THE WORLD OF NEW ARKHAM:
The name of Arkham, MA will be no stranger to the many fans of the Cthulhu Mythos, and the association will pay off (as one can see implied in the following poster for Above Arkham). We branded the city and series "New Arkham" so that we could take more liberties and move forward from our foundations in classic New England (and world) horror to spin our new, strange tales.
The world we're exploring is at a wonderful convergence of sci-fi and horror fantasy. We're crafting a universe full of ancient terrors seen in the light of near-future science fiction and pitting those forces against each other. Call it the past versus the future with the present as the stakes.
The Ragnarok team spent years on our first low-budget indie (Tales from Shakespeare: Folios & Follies, 2021) but the notion of investing years on stories with unlimited growth potential is even more fulfilling than seeing that epic endeavor through. Situations where our team can point to what needs to happen here for movie four to work right (or movie seven), how such-and-such a decision will impact another web series we would like to create- not to mention our intentionality as we already did this plan-layering in our short film, Talking to Myself, and the three seasons of our web series, Shiv & the Lost Boys. These former projects exist in continuity with the Tales of New Arkham films, albeit each in different genres.
Both films have completed principal photography and are deep in post-production.
Ragnarok Productions has an active rental division (#RentRagnarok) and has been able to use our own gear for the production. The films will be shot on Orion Atlas Anamorphic lenses using Red's new V-Raptor and Komodo cameras. In the hands of our skilled cinematographers, this combination has yielded STUNNING images that we are incredibly thrilled to get a chance to share with backers as we continue this wild ride!
